Fidya and Kaffarah are essential forms of compensation for missed fasts during Ramadan. Islam provides clear guidance on how to make amends when a person cannot fast due to valid reasons.
What is Fidya?
Fidya is a form of charitable compensation given by individuals who are unable to fast due to chronic illness, old age, or other long-term conditions. Instead of fasting, these individuals must feed a poor person for each missed fast.
What is Kaffarah?
Kaffarah is a form of atonement for deliberately breaking a fast in Ramadan without a valid reason. It requires the person to either:
1. Fast for 60 consecutive days to make up for the missed fast.
2. If unable to fast for 60 days, feed 60 poor people.
"Feed the hungry, visit the sick, and set free the captives." (Bukhari)
حديث: "أطعموا الجائع، وعودوا المريض، وفكوا العاني." (البخاري)
